Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How To Get More Ultra Balls

Nov 22, 2022 · 24

Ultra Balls have long been a staple in Pokemon games as the go-to ball for the second half of the game, and you'll definitely want to get some in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Depending on how far along you are on the Victory Road story line, you may not have been able to find any sources of Ultra Balls other than simply finding them on the ground out in the wild.

Ultra Balls are especially important in the game if you are looking to catch Tera Pokemon out in the wild. In a lot of cases, you can find a Tera Pokemon that is much higher level than you. If you bring some Pokemon that are strong against the target Pokemon's type, you should be able to defeat it even if your team is severely underleveled.

If you only have Great Balls and Poke Balls in these important fights, you may not be able to finish the catch on that Tera Pokemon you've been desperately wanting. Take for instance the Level 54 Electric-Type Dragonair off the west coast of Paldea, or the Level 75 Ice-Type Lucario awaiting you in a cave just south of the Glaseado Mountain. Bring Ice, Dragon, or Fairy types to fight the Dragonair, and bring Fire or Ground types to fight the Lucario and you should be able to defeat them even if your Pokemon are 15-20 levels under them.

Ultra Balls Available at Poke Marts & Delibird Presents Shops

So you've checked all the Poke Mart, even the ones in the higher level regions to see if they have any for sale, but they don't... what gives?

You need to obtain at least 5 gym badges through the Victory Road story line in order to unlock the ability to see and buy Ultra Balls from Poke Marts. Once you have 5 gym badges, you will be able to buy Ultra Balls for ₽800 from Poke Marts. Head to whichever Pokecenter you'd like and speak to the NPC in blue to open up the Poke Mark menu, and buy Ultra Balls from there.

After the 5 gym badges are acquired, you can also buy Ultra Balls at one of the Delibird Presents shops, noted by the KFC-colored Red and White Shop fronts. There are Delibird locations at the following cities:

  • Cascarrafa
  • Levincia
  • Mesagoza

Auction Bidding for Ultra Balls at Porto Marinada

Alternatively to waiting for 5 gym badges, as long as you have completed the Cascarrafa's Gym Challenge, you can also win Ultra Balls at the Porto Marinada auctions. You will need the highest bid at the auction to win the Ultra Balls. Note that the items at the auction will change whenever a new day starts within the game, or also daily in real-time.

One trick some players utilize to change which items are up fore auction is to close the game and adjust their system's time forward by one day. This has been known to change the available items if you are really desperate.

Ultra Balls as a Pokedex Reward

If you have caught at least 100 Pokemon already, you can go back to Jacq, a professor at the Academy within the Biology Lab. Jacq will give you Ultra Balls as a reward for collecting at least 100 Pokemon.
