Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: How To Change Your Clothes And Hair

Quick Links

Since the X & Y games, the Pokémon franchise has let players customize their trainer's hair and clothes, but Pokémon Scarlet and Violet takes this familiar mechanic in a new direction. With hair customization options available at the very start of the game, and the ability to customize eye-shape and skin details, in many ways it seems more personal than ever. But with these new freedoms, you do have one rule: stay in uniform.

While it makes sense from a premise perspective, it can be disappointing for many. However, there are many shoe, sock, and accessory options that you can purchase and wear to bring out your trainer's personal style. There are four variants of your game version's uniform that you can change at any point in your playthrough, barber shops can be found in cities throughout Paldea, and you have seemingly infinite facial feature combinations to play with.

Understanding The Clothing Menu

To access your four uniforms and all the other clothing pieces you've collected, press the left arrow button. Here, you can try on various combinations of uniform and accessory until you're content with how your character looks. When you're done, press B to exit. Or, you can always press the + button to customize your character's face, too.

Refine Your Look

If clothes aren't cutting it, you can change up your face, too. There are no purchasable accessories here, so you'll have the same options through the whole game. It's nice to be able to change anything at anytime, though. And hey, maybe you want to put on some lipstick to match your sweet new kicks.

Barbershops In Paldea

Like in Generation VIII, the first thing you need to do to change your hair is to find a barbershop in one of the cities throughout the Paldea region. You can recognize them by their traditional red and blue decorative pole.

Payment Comes At The End

Even though it tells you the cost up front, you don't actually pay for hairstyling until afterwards. If you don't change anything, it won't cost you anything. That means you can look all you want for free, which is a great quality of life improvement from previous games.

Hairstyles With Style

Unlike in past games, hairstyles aren't gender locked. Now you have the freedom to choose any cut you like, whenever you like. Take your time browsing the options and experimenting with color. You can always make your eyebrows match later in the facial customization menu.
