Warzone 2 and DMZ are two of the biggest additions brought into Modern Warfare 2. Season 1 also introduces players to the first Battle Pass, featuring a variety of exclusive cosmetic rewards and brand-new weapons. One of the new guns is the heavy-hitting Victus XMR, which joins the small list of Sniper Rifles in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The Victus XMR is a brand-new Sniper Rifle introduced in Season 1 and is accompanied by the M13B Assault Rifle and the BAS-P Submachine Gun. This new Bolt-Action Rifle is among the best Snipers in the game, trading speed for high damage. Boasting high range and superb accuracy, it is no surprise that this weapon will dominate in long-range combat. This makes it a perfect weapon for Warzone 2.

How To Unlock The Victus XMR In MW2

Modern Warfare 2 Victus XMR Sniper Rifle: How To Unlock & Best Attachments

While most weapons can be unlocked by simply ranking up or leveling up weapons within the same Weapon Platform, Season 1's roster of weapons follow a different set of rules. The Victus XMR is a free reward within the Season 1 Battle Pass and can be found at Sector A7. The fastest way to unlock this Sector is to go straight from A1 to A2, then to A4, and finally to A7. In order to progress from one Sector to the next, you must first unlock all the rewards in the previous sector. The Victus XMR is a HVT reward, meaning that you need to acquire every other reward in the Sector before you can claim it.

Best Attachments For The Victus XMR

  • Aim Down Sight Speed
  • Recoil Control
FORGE TAC DELTA 4
  • 5.5x Magnification
  • Aim Walking Movement Speed
  • Aim Down Sight Speed
  • Very Small Sniper Glint

Our recommended attachments significantly improve the range and accuracy of this weapon, while also bumping up the damage and handling at the cost of recoil control. Firstly, we have chosen the MACK 8 33.5 SUPER to make the Victus XMR more effective at long-range, but also improving its hip-fire recoil. Next, go with the VLK LZR 7MW and the BRUEN Q900 to increase your ADS and sprint-to-fire speed. This will make this sniper more effective for high-intensity gunfights and minimize the time taken to get your weapon up.

The XRK RISE 50 is the most effective stock for improving your ADS further, and it also simultaneously bumps up your overall movement speed. Lastly, it is time to choose an optic. We recommend the FORGE TAC DELTA 4 as your go-to choice for multiplayer. This attachment provides a lower magnification, making it easier to flick from one target to another. This optic also significantly improves your aim-down-sight speed, making it more viable for quick scoping. However, if you are playing Ground War or even Warzone 2, then the SP-X 80 6.6X is a better choice for long-range engagements. This optic can switch from 6.6x to 11.0x magnification but offers no additional advantages.

Go-To Perks

Modern Warfare 2 Victus XMR Sniper Rifle: How To Unlock & Best Attachments

Base Perks Bonus Perk (Earned in Match) Ultimate Perk (Earned in Match)
Battle Hardened & Double Time Fast Hands Ghost

Stun and Flash Grenades are going to be your worst enemy if you are the kind of Sniper that sits in one spot. Go ahead and equip Battle Hardened as your first Base Perk. This will reduce the effectiveness of Flashes, Stuns, and Shock Sticks, as well as offer immunity to Snapshot Grenades. You have room to experiment with your second Base Perk since Scavenger is not exactly needed. However, we recommend you use Double Time to improve your mobility by increasing your Tactical Sprint duration.

Your Bonus Perk should definitely be Fast Hands, allowing you to quickly draw out your swap-to weapon should anyone get too close. Fast Hands will also drastically increase your reload speed, which is great to compensate for the slow reload of most Snipers. Lastly, go ahead and choose Ghost. Ghost will prove exceptionally useful for keeping you off the mini-map -- especially if you have found a pretty good spot to camp.

The Best Secondary

You can definitely benefit from running a reliable swap-to-weapon to use in close-quarters engagement, as Snipers tend to be rather slow in this regard. Therefore, consider running the X13 Auto as your secondary. This Machine Pistol is great up close due to its fast fire rate and quick draw time. To increase its viability, make sure to equip an extended magazine attachment for extra ammo capacity. The X13 Auto is unlocked by leveling up the X12.

Another viable Pistol is the X12, a semi-auto sidearm providing superior mobility and handling. While this gun is not necessarily a better option than the X13 Auto, it will do in the meantime until you reach Weapon Level 10.
