In God of War Ragnarok, Freya’s Missing Peace is one of a large array of favors players will encounter throughout Vanaheim. Favors are kin to another game’s side quest, and they usually consist of the player helping an NPC with a literal favor. This specific favor deals with Freya, the Norse Goddess of Love, Fertility, War, Beauty, Magic, and Childbirth. This quest takes place entirely in Vanaheim, specifically throughout River Delta, Cliffside Ruins, and Goddess Falls.
Players will find themselves doing a fair amount of sailing, water combat, climbing, and deciphering various clues. The primary objective of this particular favor is to chaperon Freya to her wedding shrine and aid her in destroying various objects from her past. Upon completing this favor, players will be rewarded with 1,500 XP for Freya, an optional Mardoll sword Freya can equip, Steel Harmony, and Regal Vanir Garments.
How to Initiate Freya’s Missing Peace
After players are enabled to roam and explore Vanaheim as they please, players will need to begin venturing River Delta with Freya to begin the favor. River Delta is located in the northwest of Vanaheim, just west of Freyr’s Camp and slightly north of Pilgrim’s Landing. At this location, Freya will speak to the player about some unfinished business on her behalf - shortly thereafter the mission will begin.
Keep in mind, because Freya is the primary subject of interest throughout the entirety of this favor, she needs to be available as a companion to access the entrance to her wedding shrine. However, players can complete this favor whenever they like. It is also important to note that this favor will require some traversing down the River Delta - if players have activated Celestial Alters, make sure to switch the time to daytime.
Throughout the quest, players will need to utilize a great number of purple sigils while clearing pathways obstructed by an ample amount of red vines. Because Kratos and Freya are venturing into ruins and attempting to find items from the past, a lot of the following instructions will be mainly centered around getting rid of various things in the way and unlocking different areas.
Clear the Path
The area Freya wants to venture to is in Goddess Falls, which is in the southernmost portion of Vanaheim. However, the path the get into the area is blocked by an impassable wall which needs to be cleared to progress. To clear the path, players will need to venture to the Cliffside Ruins, which is on the way to Goddess Falls.
While traversing the area via boat, enemies will be in the area - kill them off. Next, hop onto the platforms while utilizing purple sigil to burn through the red vines obstructing a chain, located in the southern area. After getting rid of the red vines, drop from the platforms and climb the chain to the top. Take a left and continue until there is a seal - interact with it, so the seal is cleared. The next objective is to get back in the boat and paddle along the path that has just been unlocked.
Venture to Goddess Falls
Sailing through the newly opened path, keep going south of the river. Ahead, players will find a piece of land with a climbable wall - dock the boat on its shore and defeat enemies in the area. Next, climb the wall next to the waterfall.
Continue forward and utilize the Blades of Chaos to leap over the gap. Once on the other side, take a right and climb the wall close by. Leap over the next gap and linger behind Freya - players will reach a mountainous border that’s causing a major blockage. However, interacting with it will allow Freya to clear the way.
Now, players will find themselves in a secretive location known as Vanir Shrine. There are several enemies including some poisonous plants, clear the enemies out to avoid distractions. Upon stepping forward into the shrine, players will encounter a ravenous Soul Eater. Players will need to throw the Leviathan Axe at the Soul Eater once it exposes its chest - doing so will weaken the enemy until it eventually collapses to the ground.
It's key to keep in mind that the Soul Eater's chest is its weak spot, so players will need to fixate on that particular part of its body while attacking it. Players should then repeatedly attack the Soul Eater, dealing with a special move (press R3). Repeat the process over again, fixate on its chest, tap R3, and the Soul Eater will eventually die.
Destroying the First Object
To the left, there is a circular red door with unlit torches on either side of it. Players will need to light the torches simultaneously for the door to open. To light both torches at the same time, players will need to put a purple sigil onto both torches, including one in between them - keep putting the purple sigil in the center to increase the impact of the purple sigil. After the AoE is large enough, ignite the purple sigil in the center by using the Blades of Chaos - now, the red door should be open.
Go inside, ahead there will be a red chest with an enemy protected with a Nokken, meaning players are unable to kill the enemy while the Nokken is alive. To the left, burn the vines using a purple sigil and the Blades of Chaos - this route will allow players to gain access to the Nokken. After killing the Nokken, clear the rest of the enemies in the area. Afterward, interacting with Freya, she will then destroy the first object from her wedding.
Destroying the Second Object
Now that the first item from Freya’s Wedding has been destroyed, follow her into a passage on the left, which leads players to a Seal that can be interacted with by using the chisel. Afterward, Freya will need to read the runes that come from it. However, Freya won’t be able to see it clearly, so go back to the central area of the shrine where the Soul Eater once was.
Defeat lingering enemies in the area and get close to Freya, inspecting the runes carefully thereafter. Upon inspection, Kratos realizes that the word is unfinished - to complete the word, a second seal must be found. To the right, put the draw bridge down and place the purple sigil on the vines on the right side of the wall for them to connect. Next, use the Blades of Chaos on the closest purple sigil, this will create a domino effect as the vines begin burning.
Go back to where the runes are, and throw the Leviathan Axe at the chain lock near the bridge - this will lower the bridge. Next, use the bridge Kratos just lowered and cross it. Continue forward and deal with the Nightmares ahead. Go to the left - near the upcoming fence, several enemies will appear and begin attacking. Continue, open the red door, and keep going straight. A couple of Revenants will appear and ambush the player - after killing them, interact with Freya, and she will then destroy the second Wedding object.
Destroying the Third Object and Finding the Mardoll Sword
After Freya has destroyed the second item, she will soon open up the area on the right side. After she does this, follow her through. There is a blue seal inside - use the chisel to expose the missing letters. Afterward, go back to the main area where players previously fought the Soul Eater.
The easiest (and fastest) way of going back is to burn away the vines on the left and use the chain to climb down. Players will need to move closer to the runes to enable Freya to decipher the runes. As players inch close to her, a bridge will show up. Use it to get to the other side.
Continue onward and use the chisel on the gray seal. Soon after, a cutscene will ensue where Freya grabs the third object and the Mardoll sword, which Freya removes from a pillar. The Mardoll Sword Freya can be equipped for her later - this can be done by accessing it through the gear menu.
After the cutscene has ended, go back to the boat. Along the way, some enemies will be waiting. After Kratos and Freya hop back into the boat, two Drekis will spawn out of the water and ambush the player. Kill the Drekis so that Kratos can continue. After killing the enemies and interacting with the boat again, the favor will end.
Mardoll Sword Information
The Mardoll Sword Freya takes at the end of Freya's Missing Peace was originally commissioned and gifted to the goddess by Odin on their wedding day. The sword is also known throughout the Freya's Missing Peace favor as "Freya's Secret Sword", hence why the sword is also optional. The sword has the Asgardian Edge I effect, which inflicts Bifrost on enemies. This effect can later be upgraded to tier II and then tier III by utilizing a Folkvangr Whetstone.
