According to an interview with ESPN, EA Sports' Vice President and General Manager, Daryl Holt, says EA Sports College Football will officially launch in the Summer of 2024. The title will be exclusive to current-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
EA's college football series, developed in collaboration with NCAA, has been buried in silence since 2014 when the latest NCAA football title was released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Initially rumored to be released in the summer of 2023 ahead of the start of the next season, EA Sports College Football will now launch in 2024.
More details about EA Sports College Football have now been revealed, and documents shared with schools have stated that the game was initially planned for a 2023 release. Besides that, it will reportedly feature all FBS teams, which are expected to be around 134. The game is said to be developed on the Madden engine, meaning new technical changes could be on the way. EA Sports College Football will reportedly feature an expanded playoff stage, where up to 12 FBS teams will square off against each other, according to The Athletic.
Speaking to ESPN, EA Sports' Vice President Daryl Holt said: "That's the best date for us to bring the game that we think is going to meet or exceed our player expectations and cover the breadth and scale of what we want in the game. We're trying to build a very immersive college football experience." He also claimed that the game has already secured the rights to all FBS Conferences and the College Football Playoffs." We expect more will join, but we can only commit to what we have got in the hopper right now. We will put as many schools as we possibly can put in the game."
It is uncertain whether the real players will be included in the game, but fans can expect more details to be shared in the run-up to the game's release. EA's Sports College Football game now targets a 2024 release window for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
